KATİP

Turkish Language Program for Public Officials and Academicians (KATİP)

The Turkish Language Program for Public Officials and Academicians (KATİP) is a language and cultural program of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), designed to strengthen cultural dialogue and diplomatic ties between Türkiye and the world. It offers international public officials, diplomats, academicians, and researchers a unique opportunity to improve their Turkish language skills while gaining a deeper understanding of Türkiye’s culture, society, and institutions.

Since its launch in 2014, KATİP has welcomed 212 participants from 85 countries, reflecting its broad global reach and growing impact.

The program goes beyond language education. Participants take part in a wide range of activities, including academic seminars led by distinguished scholars, cultural excursions across Türkiye, workshops on traditional Turkish arts, and introductory experiences in Turkish sports. These activities provide a comprehensive introduction to Türkiye’s rich cultural landscape and historical depth.

KATİP also creates space for meaningful engagement with Turkish public institutions, think tanks, universities, and media organizations. Through institutional visits, joint events, and short-term internship opportunities, participants engage in cross-cultural dialogue and build long-term professional networks. This interaction fosters sustainable cooperation between Türkiye and partner countries across various sectors, from governance and academia to media and civil society.

By combining language education with cultural immersion and professional exchange, KATİP serves as a dynamic platform for strengthening mutual understanding and building bridges between Türkiye and its global partners.
